My sweet character Naraku :3 I just love him. This time you can see him with scales. Yes, my first dragon that is completely covered with scales. During my last visit in Düsseldorf Evil

gave me some example how i can draw scales. Thank you, Dae ! ^-^
I have to say that i'm still practising in drawing scales but i'm very satisfied with this one, really. It took me very long to draw the scales and to color them. I colored every single scales. As always my scanner did a very nice job but his markings are neon green, i don't know why they look so pale her... Anyway i love this piece :3

And this purple thing on the right is called Miasma, it's a kinda poison.

I ask for Critique becaue of the scales. Maybe someone can give me some advice :3

Wow, I can imagine it took ages to draw all those scales!

Looks great tho - they add more tough look to your character instead of smooth skin.
But I like both looks a lot. ^^

How big is this drawing and what kind of colored pencils do you use?

Glad you like the scales, too.
The picture is DIN A5 sized ( 21cm x 14,5 cm), it's smaller than my usual size ( 21cm x 30 cm or DIN A4).
I used the 'Polychromos' colored pencsil of faber castell for the whole picture

They are really bright and strong in their colors

Just the background is done with water colors ^^

I also use usually A4 size for my bigger drawings but when I don't want to color big areas I choose A5.
And hey, I use Polychromos also! Mostly I use Faber-Castell's watercolor pencils but I have some Polychromos too and I absolely love their strong pigment. ^^

I think polychromos are the best

The colors are so strong and bright :3
The only disadvantage is the prize ...

I didn't thought that you use also watercolor pencils
